OIL REGULATIONS

Adopt and enforce stringent protections for Culver City’s portion of the Inglewood Oil Field, based on robust public input and responsiveness to resident concerns

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Support the efforts of our Fire and Police Departments and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to educate, prepare for and respond to earthquakes, flooding, fire, or disasters caused by humans

INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENTS

Prioritize maintenance of sidewalks and streets, water mains and sewer lines, and care for our city trees

Design streets that are safe for all road users

AIR TRAFFIC NOISE

In response to the dramatic increase in airplane noise over several Culver City neighborhoods, continue work to ensure the FAA and LAX will protect residents’ quality of life and businesses’ ability to thrive

Excellent City Services

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Continue improving communication from City Hall with residents and businesses by expanding the City’s social media presence, public input opportunities, and keeping fiscal transparency a high priority

POLICE & FIRE

Increase enrollment in Smart911, further develop youth mentoring opportunities within both departments, support CCPD’s request for body cameras, track the success rate of new CCFD initiatives (Ambulance Operator Program & Reserve Firefighter Program)

PARKS & RECREATION

Plant open spaces and parks with native and drought-tolerant landscaping & keep city irrigation systems in good repair to avoid water waste, solicit direct engagement with park users when making upgrades, address maintenance of all sports fields

COMMUNITY-FOCUSED DEVELOPMENT

Make a plan for Culver City’s future based on community input, increase historic preservation efforts, create more affordable housing, expand the role of the Landlord Tenant Mediation Board, address “mansionization”

MAKE CULVER CITY THE BEST CITY TO RAISE KIDS

Create a Culver Kids web page shared with the School District for youth and family resources, continue to support CCUSD programs such as Backpacks for Kids and the Summer Lunch Program

Thriving Economy

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Install the Municipal Fiber Network to provide high speed Internet to Culver City businesses, schools & possibly residents, continue to foster business improvement districts, maintain vital homeless support services that promote long-term solutions for all residents to find stability and success

GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY

Streamline and expedite services at City Hall (i.e.: online permitting, bill-paying), leverage cross-agency partnerships (i.e.: CCUSD, Baldwin Hills Conservancy), maximize funding opportunities with nonprofit organizations and public private partnerships

CREATIVE ECONOMY

Embrace the arts as central to the success of “The Heart of Screenland” by supporting festivals & cultural events, celebrating our architectural community & media & entertainment businesses, & promoting the museums, theaters, music scene & nightlife, which make Culver City a vibrant destination

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

Expand job opportunities for Culver City youth through mentoring, internships, & summer jobs programs, maintain & modernize infrastructure to keep property values high while attracting & retaining businesses, ensure business districts are well-connected to public transit, pedestrian & bicycle infrastructure & parking facilities

Sustainable City

ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE

Develop a Climate Action Plan for Culver City, apply for state Cap and Trade grants to develop housing & transportation opportunities while also lowering greenhouse gas emissions, plan for community resilience to the effects of climate change

SAVE ENERGY, WATER & MONEY

Encourage residential solar use and expand municipal solar power generation, continue educating residents about the value of “water-wise” and “ocean-friendly” gardens, expand access to electric vehicle charging stations

REDUCE WASTE

Ban polystyrene (Styrofoam), expand the business composting program & initiate a voluntary residential composting program, explore waste-to-energy systems to power our city fleet with bio-fuels

CHAMPION ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION

Create a permanent Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, solicit direct input from senior & disabled residents for the city’s mobility plan, update the Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan, increase ridership on Culver City’s award-winning bus system & Expo light rail, introduce bikeshare & carshare programs
