M eghan Sahli-Wells invites you to join her and other supporters at a fundraiser for her Culver City Council campaign featuring The Actors’ Gang presentation of 1984 — a dramatic adaptation of George Orwell’s classic vision of dystopian society.

The night will begin with an optional dinner at Ugo Cafe in downtown Culver City, followed by a riveting and provocative theatrical performance at The Actors’ Gang Theater.

Ugo Cafe is is one of Culver City’s favorite eateries, serving the best of Italian food in a casual yet elegant setting. The 1984 dinner package will include a salad and entree from among three delicious choices each, and assorted desserts, as well as soft drinks and one glass of house red or house white wine.

La Dijonaise Serves Up a Fabulous Fun-raiser!

Filled to capacity, Culver City’s La Dijonaise restaurant was the site on Wednesday, February 1 for a successful — and delicious — evening of food and fundraising to benefit Meghan’s campaign for City Council. The sold-out event saw a throng of Meghan’s supporters enjoying the delicious food, great service, and lively conversation at the classic French bistro in the heart of the Helms Bakery District.

A silent auction followed dinner featuring the work of local artists Michelle Souza and Leslie Rosdol, and Oregonian Artist Greeley Wells (Meghan’s father). A number of area businesses and individuals donated gift certificates to the silent auction, including Koncept 67 Salon, Sada’s Flowers, Goda Yoga, voice lessons from Cecily Gardner, plumbing services from Chase Palmer, a garden design consultation from Mayita Dinos, and a bike tune-up from Bikes & Books, as well as local restaurants Shalimar Cuisine of India, and Conservatory for Coffee, Tea and Cocoa.

Meghan’s next campaign event is a spectacular evening of dining and theater on February 24 culminating in a groundbreaking interpretation of George Orwell’s classic novel 1984 at The Actors Gang at Ivy Station. The location of the dinner is TBA — we will soon be taking reservations and payments online!

Meghan gets great new endorsements!

Meghan has already received endorsements from U.S. Representative Karen Bass, State Assemblymember Holly Mitchell, Culver City Council Member and former Mayor Christopher Armenta, and all five Culver City School Board members: Karlo Silbiger, Katherine Paspalis, Patricia Siever, Laura Chardiet and Nancy Goldberg.

Numerous other officials, representatives and community leaders have endorsed Meghan’s campaign, including Civil Service Commissioner Dan Gallagher, Cultural Affairs Commissioner Ronnie Jayne, Advisory Committee on Redevelopment members Vernon Taylor, Jr. and David Voncannon, Former Culver City Mayor Dr. James Boulgarides, Former Culver City Mayor Gary Silbiger, Downtown Neighborhood Association founder Judy Miller, and former School Board Members Dr. Wanda Boulgarides, Stew Bubar, and Barbara Honig.

Campaign mailing party was fun for all!

A good time was had by all at the mailing party on the evening of January 17 when twelve Meghan Sahli-Wells enthusiasts stayed after the general campaign meeting to prepare a mailing for close to 500 households. The mailing contained a short brochure about Meghan’s candidacy and an invitation to participate in her race for a seat on the Culver City Council. The mailer also included information about the first campaign fundraiser to be held February 1 at 7 PM at La Dijonaise. A three-course French dinner including a glass of wine or beer is on offer for $50 per person.

Some who attended likened the mailing party to a quilting bee — stories were shared, there was much laughter, and the atmosphere of community was palpable as everyone sat working around a big table or sat on the floor to fold paper, collate the campaign literature, and place it all in envelopes to be stamped and affixed with address labels.

The next campaign meeting is scheduled for January 25, and will include a calling party — supporters who haven’t had a chance to RSVP for the fundraiser at La Dijonaise will be contacted by phone for a personal invitation.
